ABOUT

BACKGROUND

I am Ki-Jung Dejbjerg, born in 1986, a psychotherapist specialising in Cybernetic Psychology and integral psychotherapy. Over a decade of training in depth psychology, meditation, yoga, breathwork, and other integral frameworks sits behind the work I do with clients.

More than credentials, what I bring is a genuine familiarity with the territory. I know what it’s like to feel stuck. To search. To find something that is actually helpful. If you want to know more about the path that brought me here, read on.

Background

Early in my life I hit a wall. Severe depression. The kind where you can’t get out of bed and don’t want to continue anymore.

I found my way to therapy. Honestly, not a very good therapy — but enough to keep me from drowning. And somewhere in that process, something clicked: if working with my mind could take me from feeling really bad to feeling okay — could it also take me from feeling okay to really good? On the surface, such a simple realisation. But turning my attention from only focusing on outer circumstances to the inner landscape of the mind opened a twenty-year+ exploration into personal development, psychology, philosophy, and spirituality.

That exploration took me through many worlds.

On the outer level it meant years working in humanitarian organisations. It seemed meaningful to try to help others who were in very challenging situations. I worked with poverty, education, human rights, and post-conflict reconciliation. Especially the latter made an important impact on my therapeutic approach. Victims of war and their perpetrators talking with each other for the first time since the conflict. Sometimes understanding happened. Sometimes even forgiveness. It really shows how much is possible when the right intentions and circumstances are created — a lesson I carry with me.

On an inner level I explored everything I could find — many types of meditation, yoga, breathwork, cold immersion, shadow integration, personality types, plant medicine, and much more. Though very helpful, none of these seemed able to stand alone. I kept looking for an overarching framework. Something that could hold all of it together.

I found it, almost by accident.

I was attending a meditation retreat when a conversation in the break changed my direction. I mentioned to a fellow student that I was looking for a psychotherapy education. The teacher happened to walk past at that moment and said: Ole Vedfelt — han er et vidensfelt. It was a quiet play on words — Vedfelt, the last name, translates directly as Knowfield. So what the teacher said was: Ole Knowfield — he is a field of knowledge. I went home, read about the school and the approach, and was instantly sold.

What I found at The Vedfelt Institute was Cybernetic Psychology — a way of working with the mind as a living system. It brought together many of the things I had been exploring and gave it a coherent shape.

The outer and inner levels seem to have aligned themselves more these days, as I simultaneously found my way to Vajrayana Buddhism, which has since felt like home. As of now it’s also a home in a literal sense — I’m living and practicing at a Vajrayana Buddhist retreat centre, where I help run the place alongside my own continuing practice.

Alongside this ongoing personal practice, my therapeutic work rests on a solid foundation of formal study. Here is selected overview of the core studies and certifications that inform my practice.

ONLINE THERAPY

  • Dialog — Unfolding experience through guided inquiry

  • Dreamwork — Exploring the symbolic language of the unconscious

  • Meditation — Resting attention in choiceless presence

  • Somatic awareness — Grounding emotional experience in somatic sensation

  • Transpersonal work — Connecting with deeper layers of meaning

I offer individual online therapy sessions available in both English and Danish, delivered through a secure platform. This ensures consistency and continuity, regardless of life’s inevitable disruptions. Whether due to busy schedules, work travel, or life transitions, online sessions offer a stable, supportive anchor to return to.

Within each session, I draw on a range of modalities — from dialogue and dreamwork to meditation, somatic awareness, and transpersonal exploration. These are woven together organically, responding to what emerges in the moment and allowing your inherent intelligence to unfold naturally.

APPROACH

CYBERNETIC PSYCHOLOGY

Like our bodies, our minds know how to grow and heal, but this knowing is beyond the limitations of our conscious, rational thinking. In Cybernetic Psychology we work with this natural intelligence — an innate movement towards something that is always already sane, healthy and integrated.

Instead of communicating through words, this intelligence speaks through symbols, intuition, feelings, and sensations – but most of us haven’t learned how to understand this language, or even how to listen. To learn more, read on.

CYBERNETIC PSYCHOLOGY

Cybernetic Psychology essentially applies the principles of Systems Theory to the field of Psychology. It comes with an ocean of technical terms and descriptions, but I tend to find analogies the easiest to work with:

When you walk through a forest, you mostly see what is happening above ground — individual trees standing side by side. But there’s an intelligence beneath the soil — an unseen, vast network of roots and mycelium connecting everything. Through this underground system, the forest constantly communicates, shares resources, and regulates itself. If a drought hits one area, the network shifts water and nutrients to support the struggling trees. The forest acts as one highly adaptive, interdependent living system.

Cybernetic Psychology sees the human mind in much the same way. What we’re aware of is just what’s visible above ground, and this unseen network is what we call Unconscious Intelligence. Unlike our everyday, rational thinking mind, this intelligence is capable of taking in and relating to vast amounts of information. Studies in Cognitive Science point to the unconscious mind having 200,000 times the capacity of the conscious mind when it comes to processing information — this means sensemaking, problem-solving, learning, and psychological growth.

The question naturally arises of how to connect with this Unconscious Intelligence, but it's actually something we already do. It’s the dream image that stays with you into the afternoon. The sudden tightness in your chest when a boundary is crossed. The heavy mood that arrives out of nowhere and refuses to leave. Instead of ignoring these or pushing them away, we welcome them in — with curiosity, with openness — and let them unfold.

In our sessions, this means slowing down. We step out of the narrow channel of everyday, linear thinking and drop into a wider, more open state of awareness. By engaging with these physical sensations, feelings, and dream images, we create a safe space to actually learn the language of the unconscious.

When we approach the mind this way, our entire perspective shifts. We realize that even the experiences we desperately want to move past — a freezing anxiety, a heavy depression, or repetitive relationship patterns — don’t simply mean something is wrong. They are the internal ecosystem responding to its environment, trying to bring the system back into balance.

Healing doesn't happen by trying to force the canopy to grow differently. It happens when we tend to the entire ecosystem. Our work together is simply about cultivating the right intentions and conditions, allowing your mind's innate intelligence to unfold.

  • Living Ecosystem — Viewing the mind as a complex living system

  • Unconscious Intelligence — Listening to the intelligence beyond rational thought

  • Open Awareness — Meeting experience with open, unbiased awareness

  • Natural Adaptability — Creating the conditions for your inherent resilience

  • Integrated Approach — Unifying methods within a cybernetic framework

TESTIMONIALS

CLIENT EXPERIENCES

“I was going through a transition — job, relationship, all at once — and felt completely lost. What helped most was feeling genuinely understood without being told what to do. I came with a mess and slowly found a thread through it.”
— Female | 33 | Freelance Photographer
“I started because of anxiety around work and relationships. What I didn’t expect was how much of it traced back to much earlier things. It’s not always comfortable, but I always leave sessions feeling like something has moved. Hard to explain but easy to feel.”
— Female | 29 | Palliative Care Coordinator
“Honestly I was a bit sceptical. I’d done a lot of work on myself already — retreats, meditation, the whole thing — and I wasn’t sure this therapy could add much. I was wrong. Ki-Jung has a way of connecting dots I didn’t know were there. The online format works better than I expected too.”
— Male | 42 | Digital Nomad
“I came to Ki-Jung at a point where I’d tried several therapists and always felt like something was missing. What’s different here is that nothing gets dismissed. The dreams, the patterns I kept repeating, the things I couldn’t quite explain — all of it had a place. It’s been slower than I expected, but more helpful than anything I’ve tried before.”
— Female | 38 | Urban Planner
“Ki-Jung never pushes a fixed agenda. Some sessions we work with a dream, others with something that happened that week. It felt alive rather than a formula. I’ve recommended him to a colleague already.”
— Male | 51 | School Counsellor

FAQS

COMMON QUESTIONS

What can I expect during a typical therapy session?

Our sessions are 70 minutes long and conducted via secure, GDPR-compliant video calls. We will utilize a variety of techniques tailored to your individual needs, including dialogue, dreamwork, and awareness practices. Through our work together, you’ll gain insights into your internal processes, develop new perspectives, and cultivate a deeper connection with your innate sanity.

How long does therapy typically last?

The duration of therapy varies for each individual. Some clients find what they need in just a few sessions, while others benefit from longer-term work. We’ll regularly review your progress and adjust our approach as needed. The therapy process is dynamic and adaptive, focusing on lasting transformation and fundamental change rather than just symptom reduction.

Is online therapy as effective as in-person therapy?

Yes, several academic meta-analyses show that online therapy is just as effective as traditional in-person sessions. Furthermore, it provides convenient and flexible support for clients who may find it difficult to attend in-person therapy. Whether due to busy schedules, work travel, or life transitions, online sessions serve as a stable, supportive anchor to return to.

Do I need prior experience with psychotherapy to benefit from your services?

No prior experience, theoretical understanding, or particular worldview is necessary to benefit from this approach to psychotherapy. The process is designed to meet you where you are and work with your unique experiences and perspectives.
